It's been since Christmas since I updated this? That's pathetic. But fitting. My life has been changing and stressful. I was "scouted" for a job at American Apparel when I was going to the bathroom at a coffee shop back in January. That has been good. Most importantly, though, I'm moving to Greenwich Village on May 15 and never coming back. Hallelujah. I'm free.
Last month I went to SXSW in Austin to work for the American Apparel Flea Market. My life is taking shape. I've been winning them and losing them. That's not ever really new news.

First things first. The weather in Florida is excellent. I don't completely resent having to spend a year here, if even just for this perk. Today I went to the library and paid off my fines and started on The Original of Laura, a most wonderful Christmas present from my friend Justin. Ahh. And a first edition copy of The Defense is on it's way to my house as well, courtesy of Stephen. I love my friends. My mother purchased me a cuff with the NYC metro system on it, bad. ass. Way to go, mom.
In other news, I am interning for a wonderful lady, Dana Roquemore who owns & operates a vintage store/brand, OPP (Other People's Property). You can check out the store here: click! Lately, I've had a lot of money and nothing to spend it on. I've been slingin mucha café and killing Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty. In short, life is pretty excellent. The weather still hasn't really cooled off but I still wear my BA leather jacket. I say fuck the hos, you know?
I've sort of decided that even if I can't afford Parsons this coming fall, I'm moving to New York anyway, to try and get an internship or whatever. You know, little girl/big city/big dreams, etc. Living in Orlando again isn't as bad as I remember it. I don't know, I sort of like it here in some ways. Hm.
Anyway, I jetsetted to Interlochen (my old boarding high school) for a weekend in November and took some raunchy photogs. Here they are.

I. Got. A. Job. This is so epic for me. I went into Starbucks on Sunday and some crazy ho was working and she got really excited about my hair and showed me pictures of hers on her phone for like 10 minutes. Inside I was like.. what... but outside I kept it kewl. After like 2049 hours I asked if they were hiring and she was like "omggg yeah someone just got terminated" so I was like holla. Brought my app in the next day. Got the job yesterdayyy. I am so happy. I feel powerful and this makes me want to change everything in my life, which I am in the process of doing. Out with the old, in with the new. It's an old saying but tru. I finally developed photos. And this job means I can take moreeee pictures. YE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

So, as I am locked in FL for the next few months, I figured I should do something with my time. Something besides lounging, that is. One portion of this new energy is going into this blog. Not that anyone really reads it, but it will make me feel productive to channel some of my time into this. I doubt this will occur with any noticeable celerity, but whatevaaaaaa.

So, things are sort of all over the place right now. It's that whole when a door closes, a window opens thing. I'm not going to New York/Parsons for a bunch of stupid reasons that revolve around a lack of funds. I've been trying not to let it get me down but on rainy days like this, it's more poignant. And besides, the fact that half of my friends here are leaving, and a good 95% of the people I know in general will be living in New York just rubs it in even worse. Ew.
Things aren't all bad, though. For some reason (pheromones?) I've been getting an influx of, ahem, attention lately. It's really strange mix of sweet, annoying, unhealthy, ridiculous and sudden. Whatever. I never turn down the opportunity to be a cynosure! Except one specific relationship which becomes increasingly more painful and retarded to pursue. Whateverrr.
Hopefully I will just get a good job and bide my time until January when (hopefully) I move up to Parsons and start with the spring semester.

I sent out my letter accepting my position at Parsons this morning. I got food poisoning from prom - of course! God. I have to develop those photos. Only three weeks left in school, I can't believe it. The older I get, the younger I feel. But in a self-deprecating way, not at all in a vibrant, wild-youth sort of way. I still somehow have homework, though, which is really irritating. I'm sort of excited in a nerdy way about a Supreme Court project I'm doing on assisted suicide, which sounds way more morbid than it is.
For some reason, I really feel like washing dishes right now. It's a sort of soothing thing for me, therapeutic. I don't know. Childhood chore nostalgia. Ah, the things you miss at boarding school.

I spent the weekend in Chicago with some of my friends. We drove from school. It was so nice to be away, to get off campus, etc.
We went shopping, which was sooo nice. I bought a sweet dress from H&M and some gladiators I've been wanting. Then at Rugby I got an oversized sweater-dress. And got some body-wash from Lush (it's called Flying Fox, the best shit ever) Then we went and saw Lily Allen! Hahaha. She has the cutest laugh, and besides, I'm a sucker for accents. I haven't finished my film roll yet so I can't develop my photos, but I snapped a few on my phone. I actually sort of like the way mobile photos come out, I don't know why... haha.

I'm so pissed. How can it possibly be snowing outside? I hate Michigan and I cannot wait to get out of here! Actually, that's partially a lie... I'm secretly very scared to go to college, move to New York, pay my own water bill, etc. I've lived without my parents since I was 14, but it's been at boarding school which is most definitely different than the real world. I don't know if I actually feel old enough to do this. Tant pis, I suppose.
My wonderful friend Stephen who I talked about two posts ago offered to purchase my prom dress for me and it is wonderful and perfect: see? Of course there is a catch and that is that I found out another girl has the same one. Not to mention she is skinnier and prettier than me, which is stupid and vain to say but totally frank. On the plus side, the dress is going to the alterationist who is making it strapless and taking the tulip out. Besides, I have vintage purple suede heels to match. Praise the fashion gods.
Incidentally, I got into Pratt and received my official letter from Parsons. Parsons gave me a grande scholarship which is fucking wonderful, because otherwise I'd be a rube forever. I'm currently trying to figure out my living situations. I refuse to live in the dorms, like seriously refuse. Thus, I am left with the option of getting a miniscule apartment with my ex-boyfriend. Ah, la vie est étrange.
Anyway, I did upload my last roll of film and although I may be tardy, I have arrived. I also haven't finished my story for class, which is what I am putting off right at this very moment...

Great story here: They are Swedish boys I sat next to on the plane from my boarding school to my hometown and we became friends and ended up seeing each other four or five times while they were in Florida (I live like 20 minutes from Disney). All the snow melted here for a while, but it's back again. What the fuck. That's really all I can say. It snowed four inches last night.

Conveniently, my Spring Break starts Saturday! But I might be leaving early. I have the worst case of senioritis imaginable. Oh! On that note, today I got into Parsons School of Design for Design & Management!!!!!! I have a future! However, FIT rejected me, hahaha. Whatever. Fuck them. I'm excited for break though. I'm home again right now. I sort of took a self-proclaimed vacation. Boarding school in the snow and the cold and the gray skies... it just gets to be too much! Regardless of how much work I'm missing, I'm having a great time. My friend, Niko and I drove around and ended up at CVS at 1AM so she could buy Ramen, haha! All I'm hoping is that someone will get me a "double the peanut butter" Reeses for Valentines.
Incidentally, being the whackass that I am, I remembered to bring every single thing home for my 10 day vaca, except for my Mac charger! So I've been using my old Desktop, haha. It hasn't been all bad, I mean, I went through all of my old shit and who knew I had any sense of fashion at age 12/13? My collection of editorial photos and paparazzi shots of MKA should probably be worth something, they are so massive.
Anyway, what I'm trying to work my way around to is that since my laptop is dead, I don't have my latest roll of film (which was shitty anyway), all I've got is a weird melange of shit that I'm into right now. Winter is cold in Michigan. All my applications are done & sent, except for the American University of Paris. But that is in March, and I'm in no hurry. My roommate is taking a poetry class and I helped her fix the line breaks on her poems tonight. Her first language is Korean, but I think that only makes her work sound cooler.
I want to get out of here. Get out of my dorm, my schedule, the shitty coffee at the student cafe. Today I got clip-on earrings. I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that I will never get around to piercing my ears.

New Years Eve was the most ridiculous time of my life. My gay ex boyfriend, Sean, and I headed out from his work (7 For All Mankind), rushed to his casa where we drank some champagne (read: a bottle), and figured out that tying ties is really fucking hard. Then um we sped to Target so he could buy a belt and then almost forgot said belt. But finally, we arrived at the Ritz Carlton! Woo. His grandmother (Lala), her Jewish husband (Saba), Aunt Jolie (his aunt), Manny (her bf), Charlotte (a free lance artist) & Bob (a psychiatrist) were all there. We chilled at the snazzy table for a while and then got up and powdered our noses in the girls bathroom, haha. Anyway, I drank like five vanilla cosmos, ate some flan, had some more champagne, did the electric slide, left some drunk messages, it was a good night. Plus, the next morning we got WHATABURGER. Fuck yeah.

So every October, my school takes all of the seniors to Mackinac Island. It's a cute town that you have to ferry to, and there's no motor vehicles allowed on the island. It was a beautiful day, and for some reason a lot of my photos came out blue-tinted. Strange. I highly recommend venturing out there, if you are ever, for some strange reason, in northern Michigan.

I went to Nashville to visit my friend Justin.

Because I am so broke and pathetic, I don't have $$$ to buy film or develop it anyway. I do, however, have a ridiculous collection of past photos so I will just build up posts with those. I like them, anyway. I'll focus on this past summer because I am nostalgic.
So, I go to boarding school from September to May, and have for the past three years. I love it though, don't get me wrong. It's a small, arts school, and when academics aren't kicking my ass, I get to sit around and write poetry. The only downside is that it is in upstate Michigan, about three hours from Canada. It is cold!!! And I've spent the larger portion of my life in sunny Florida, so 12 inches of snow in one night is just retarded to me.
Thus, I relish my vacations, and stuff them as full of friends, partying and sleep as I can manage. Hopefully my sentimentalism is more excusable now.

At the beginning of summer, I spent some time in Los Angeles with my cousins. This is their dog, Yoshi, (I think.)

I saw my friend Dylanger, too.

And I paid a bouncer 20$ to get into this club, haha. Damn, being underage.

In 8th and 9th grade I hung out with these boys a lot.

After a while, I think when my dresses got shorter and my hair got longer, I was just a little too girly for them.

My friend Caleb got really fucked up one night.

I don't really do nature photos very often. I am really fascinated by people and what they are doing, less about trees, animals, and so on. I feel like this is a genetic fluke, because my great-great uncle was John Muir, a wonderful naturalist. Maybe someday I'll get back to my roots (ha ha!). I do have a love for the outdoors, but moreso photos and not immersion.
